The Jack Pearce Quintet
Saturday 21st March 2026, 7:30pm
The Jack Pearce Quintet showcase Jack’s original compositions that pay homage to jazz traditions while injecting a fresh, inventive spirit.
A band of Leeds Conservatoire Alumni, they focus on a fusion of melodic and technical excellence, influenced by post-bop and 90’s world fusion, strong rhythms underpin vibrant, playful melodies. The original compositions have a uniquely open and interactive approach.
‘It was a total pleasure to welcome the Jack Pearce Quintet to Lancaster Jazz Scene on Sunday night for what proved to be a sensational gig. Honest, energetic and authentic jazz musicianship presented with warmth and style’.
– Lancaster Jazz Scene
‘While the group played many original compositions, their two sets also included “Scarborough Fair”, a version of the John Coltrane classic “My Favourite Things”, and “So What”, from Miles Davis’s album “Kind of Blue”. What words can I use to describe this young group of musicians from Leeds Conservatoire?
Outstanding and brilliant, with a great attitude on the band stand. Drummer, Angus Haygarth certainly knows how to swing. I hope this outstanding quintet will be back at Scarborough Jazz sometime in the future’.
– John Anderson (Jazz Notes)
