Anniversary Weekend

The Flight Of The Heron

Saturday 27th June 2026: 7:30pm

A Celebration of the Heron Theatre in words and music.
Adults £15 (Members £12) – Under 18 £6.

Ginny Scott and Michael Lunts will celebrate the contribution the Heron has made to promoting Live Theatre over the years.

I cannot think of two people better qualified to take us on this journey. Ginny and her amazing theatre group theCompany breathed so much life in to the theatre throughout the last 15 years.

Additionally providing much needed funds which allowed the theatre first to survive and then to thrive. Michael has had the magic formula from day one for providing exactly what ‘the Heron audience’ love…. Talent, Humour, Drama and Song.

Act One: TheCOMPANY

TheCOMPANY’ was the associate theatre group with the Heron Theatre, between 2011 and 2024.

It was formed by a group of professional and amateur actors keen to perform quality theatre, in a small venue. They presented two or three shows a year which raised £31,677 for the theatre. Tonight they tell the story of the building that became known as the Heron
Theatre, interspersed with excerpts from some of their past productions.

Act Two

Michael Lunts Presents…A Musical Frolic through 25 years of Shows at the Heron.

Michael Lunts
From his earliest years, Michael has been performing, singing and acting from the piano, and he has spent much of his subsequent career finding creative ways of bringing these skills ever closer together. He has enjoyed a long and varied acting career in touring, repertory and West End theatre, composing, writing, teaching, directing and performing from the keyboard.

He is also a professional reader of audio books, an extensive library of which are available to download from Audible.

For the past thirty years, Michael has exclusively performed his own shows. These include his distinctive classical music-based dramas, built around key moments in the lives of composers such as Chopin, Schubert, Rachmaninov, and, most recently Edward Elgar. These have all been seen at the Heron Theatre over the years, along with what Michael calls his ‘intimate revues of comedy songs’, built around the works of such comedy song legends as Tom Lehrer, Flanders and Swann, Gilbert and Sullivan and Noël Coward.

He has toured these shows all over the world, from Canada to Australia, from the Middle East to Cambodia, as well as giving countless performances at venues and festivals around the UK.

Michael has had a long association with the Heron Theatre and is delighted to have been invited to share some musical memories of his many shows as part of the anniversary celebrations.
