During WW2 the theoretical physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, was appointed to oversee the top-secret Manhattan Project – the development of the atomic bomb.
His team of scientists worked for years on its development at a secret location in the New Mexico desert, and in July 1945 their work came to fruition and the course of history changed forever.
Oppenheimer was a brilliant man captivated by the boundless possibilities of science but realising too late that his creation had a limitless capacity for destruction.
Cillian Murphy gives a riveting performance as the flawed genius.
