Tourette’s Syndrome was little known when John Davidson was growing up with the condition in 1980’s Scotland.
His swearing and odd facial tics were seen as aggressive and he was severely bullied. Unable to understand him, his parents separated.
His life was transformed when he was taken in by Dolly (Maxine Peake), the mother of a friend, becoming an activist for others with Tourette’s.
