Two years after his wife’s death a renowned actor and theatre director (Yusuke) is invited to direct a production of Uncle Vanya in Hiroshima. A taciturn young woman is assigned as his chauffeur to ferry him around in his beloved red Saab.
As tensions mount at the theatre Yusuke is forced to confront painful truths about his past and with the help of his driver he begins to face the mysteries his wife left behind.
Adapted from a short story by Murakami the film won 3 prizes at Cannes including Best Screen Play.
