3.00pm Flight of the Heron by the COMPANY
‘TheCOMPANY’ was the associate theatre group with the Heron Theatre, between 2011 and 2024. It was formed by a group of professional and amateur actors keen to perform quality theatre, in a small venue.
They presented two or three shows a year which raised £31,677 for the theatre. This afternoon they tell the story of the building that became known as the Heron Theatre, interspersed with excerpts from some of their past productions.
4.00pm PoVo
Inspired by the Freddie Hubbard track of the same name, PoVo sits on a solid funky groove between bass (Dave Shooter) and drums (James Barrott) with harmony from electric piano (Paula Williams), guitar (Tim Hickman) and saxophone (Paul Froggatt).
These Lancaster based musicians play what is best described as jazz fusion with classic tunes from the 70s onwards. Expect a great vibe from catchy rhythms and harmonic jazz improvisation.
We are working hard to build an audience for Jazz at the Heron. It’s a broad church and over the years we have welcomed all styles from Traditional Jazz to African / American cross over.
If you enjoy PoVo today then please consider supporting Jazz at the Heron again in the future.
